Spring Gardening Workshop

April 4 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Free

Plant your best spring garden yet! From soil and irrigation to pest control, Sonoma Garden Park’s experts will help you up your gardening game. Setting up for success is key, whether you have containers, raised beds, or an in-ground garden. Learn to prevent and address pests using various procedures to keep plants thriving, and get tested solutions to the destructive critters in your yard or field.

Whether you are building on a year-round garden, starting seeds and cuttings or setting purchased ornamentals, veggie and flower starts, with the best methods come best outcomes! We’ll consider the local climate, water needs, and pests to ensure you plan(t) your most successful garden ever! Led by Rebecca Kelly, Sonoma Garden Park Assistant Manager and a team of all-star gardeners, you—and your garden—will be in great hands!

Things to keep in mind:

— Wear proper footwear for wet/muddy and uneven paths.
— Dress in layers.
— Bring: Sun protection, and a water bottle.
— The small parking lot can fill up quickly, so arrive early to allow yourself enough time to park on the road if needed.

There is no charge for this outing, which is made possible by the voters of Sonoma County who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax. Sonoma Garden Park was protected by Ag + Open Space in November of 2011 for recreation and preservation of its natural resources, and learning classroom environment for agriculture field trips for nearby elementary schools through Sonoma Ecology Center’s “Growing Discovery” program. The 6-acre property, hidden in eastern Sonoma, is an incredible public park and working garden site in Sonoma Valley, home of a wide array of habitats alongside sustainably designed systems for both agriculture use and landscaping purposes.
