“Fresh from the Source”
Sonoma County Farm Trails 2011/12 Map & Guide Release
SONOMA COUNTY- Sonoma County Farm Trails announces the release of the 2011/12 Farm Trails Map & Guide, the “go-to” source for the region’s finest local foods and agriculture. Sonoma County Farm Trails is a not-for-profit membership organization dedicated to preserving sustainable and diverse agriculture in Sonoma County. Since 1973, SCFT has worked to promote and market local agriculture, each year publishing an annual Map & Guide (one of the first of its kind in the nation) and producing the Gravenstein Apple Fair, an old-time celebration of Sonoma County’s rural heritage held every August.
The 2011/12 full-color 68 page Map & Guide showcases over 100 farms, nurseries, ranches, wineries, and artisan food producers representing the diverse selection of products grown and produced in Sonoma County. Listings are organized by region, with accompanying maps for 8 identified zones featuring write-ups for each establishment, giving descriptions of products and services, dates and hours of operation, contact information, website, and map location, so individuals, families and groups can plan farm visits throughout the year. The Map and Guide is packed with information about local food: producers; resources; farmers’ market guide; an extensive, alphabetized product index from Alpacas to Wreaths; seasonal foods checklist; reasons to shop locally; maps to inspire your adventures; and tips for planning farm visits. “The Map & Guide is Sonoma County’s comprehensive guide to finding local foods, agricultural products and artisanal products fresh from the source” says Suzanne Alexandre, Farm Trails Interim Program Director. “We invite you to explore the farms and businesses that make up Farm Trails membership, and meet the farmers, ranchers, artisan producers, vintners and individuals who nurture and hand-craft Sonoma County’s rich agricultural bounty”.
Free Map & Guides are available throughout Sonoma County at visitor centers, Oliver’s Market locations, The Seed Bank in Petaluma, and the Farm Trails Office at 930 Shiloh Road, Bldg 40 in Windsor. There is a free down-loadable version available on www.farmtrails.org, or send $5 for a mailed copy.
