Many farms in Sonoma County are able to thrive thanks to their loyal supporters who sign-up for their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs. When customers commit to purchasing produce through a CSA program, farmers and producers are able to anticipate demand and count on income to help them make it through the year.

The benefits of being a CSA member include receiving uber-local seasonal food regularly, accessing unique on-farm events and experiences (including U-pick opportunities), participating in community cultivation, and enjoying the peace of mind that flows from supporting local farmers and helping to preserve farm land. CSA subscriptions can include anything from seasonal produce, meat, and value added goods, to seasonal cut flowers.

The following local sustainability superstars offer wonderful CSA programs: Foggy River Farm and Dragonfly Floral in Healdsburg; Singing Frogs FarmGreen Star Farm offering a CSEgg subscription, plus a pasture-raised meat CSA, & Laguna Farm who is now featuring the option to add a meat CSA from Freestone Ranch; Tierra Vegetables in north Santa Rosa; and in Petaluma, Open Field FarmTara Firma Farms and First Light Farm (CSA box pictured above).
