The Russian River twists and turns as it winds its way from Alexander Valley all the way to the town of Jenner on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The Farm Trails River Route covers the Russian River’s western track, taking visitors past the towns of Forestville, Guerneville, Monte Rio, and Duncans Mills—places where the soil is rich and silty from floodwaters.
The River Route includes Sonoma County’s so-called banana belt, where the coastal influence keeps the land frost-free and temperate for much of the year. Orchards and vineyards flourish alongside towering redwood trees, and world-class restaurants can be found tucked away in tiny towns.
