Less than 45 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge lies Sonoma County’s southern-most region, a welcoming swath of rolling hills, rivers, and creeks for visitors traveling north on Highway 101. Petaluma’s authentic Victorian downtown, home of a national heirloom seed company housed in a historic bank building, offers a glimpse of life in another era.

Historically, Petaluma has served as the commercial hub for agriculture trade in Sonoma County, with barges plying the Petaluma River down to San Francisco carrying produce, wine, livestock, eggs, and other goods.
